Final Poster (changed)

We changed the main image of our poster as we thought that our original one did not link with our digipak, so by using the same image as our digipak cover the customer knows it's promoting the same video and song. we went with a pink theme for the digipak and needed to include it in the poster but we also mixed in more colours so the poster is very loud and in-your-face like the singers personality and style. We are pleased with all of the final outcomes of the ancillary tasks and believe they link well with on another and the video.

Final Digipak (Ancillary Task)

This is our cover for the digipak and we felt it was ideal as it was eye-catching and evoked all the right feelings of fun and quirkiness that also links with the song.

Not as bold as the others but that's exactly want we wanted, this was more of a divider between the others.

This would hold the CD and has a repeated image of the singer running. We thought this looked very stylish aand professional.

This is the back of the CD which needed to co-ordinate with the rest of of the digipak but also need to be very clear so the song titles could be clearly seen. it also shows the singer very clearly so the customer can identify a face and personality.

We are very pleased with our final digipak and feel it co-ordinates brilliantly to our music video and the style we wanted to portray, however the the digipak could match with the poster better so our next stage is to rethink our posters image so both ancillary tasks and music video work together to promote the song.

Getting Feedback

To get a vast response from a very varied audience I have uploaded the music video onto youtube.com and then advertised the link on my facebook account. We think this would get us the best results from all types of target audiences and the receive accurate and honest feedback, so far this has been successful.

Producing Our Filmed Evaluation

The filming for our filmed evaluation has gone really well, we decided not to script what we said and just voice our own opinions, this has worked really well and made it look more realistic. We are also adding cometary over clips and mixing this in with the filmed interviews of ourselves to try and make the evaluation less boring. We have faced difficulties with the mac computers at school and this has wasted a lot of our time to hand this in for the deadline on Friday.

Another Unsuccessful Idea

December 2nd 2010

as our chosen song for our video was 'Waking Up In Vegas' our group thought it would be a really good idea if we got clips of gambling at a local arcade. We contacted the manager of the arcade to authorise filming and he said it would be fine as long as we were supervised by him and it that we only filmed on games that you didn't include money. This was because it could be scene as this company was glamorising gambling and because of children being in the premises. We found this totally acceptable and through editing we knew we could still get the effect wanted. However when we tried to get in touch again with the manager to book a time and date to film he did not respond to our calls or emails and we were unable to film without his permission and supervision. We got over this obstacle as we used an at-home-roulette set that featured chips, cards, etc and we used discrete camera angles to achieve clips without scenery. This image is a print-screen clip from the video.

Evaluation

Now that we have completed our video we need to produce an evaluation of it. As a group we have all agreed that we want to create a video commentary on the music video which will feature voice over on clips and film interviews. we need to talk about how we compare our music video to other music videos by similar or the same artist, how we connect to our target audience, any problems a during filming and how we over came them, conventions being used, evaluating it's function, the pace of the video, visual aspects (costume, mise-en-scene, camera angles, acting), analysing audience opinion and how effective the video is at promoting the song. Emma, Aimee and myself all have lots of strong opinions about our video so we will not struggle with the evaluation as we have become quite passionate about it.

Video Finished

The video was finished mid-December and we are well in date for our hand in for the final outcome. I'm very pleased with the finished video and what that our group has achieved our goal of making a music video based on Katy Perry's song 'Waking Up In Vegas'. To evoke the songs lyrics we filmed scenes that included money, gambling, alcohol, dancing, glamour and eccentric costumes, these aspects all things we thought would happen in Las Vegas which has a very strong link to the songs theme. All of Emma's miming matches as well as possibly achievable and she also plays very realistic characteristics to how Katy should be acting in this video for this song. I think we worked very well as a team to complete the video at our highest standard we were able to achieve given the technology and scenery.

Firework Issues

December 1st 2010

For possible clips for our video we wanted to have a sparkler scene, with "Katy" dancing and making light paintings with the sparklers. It was very challenging to find sparklers this time of year so we searched for phone numbers from possible retailers and finally came across a local firework shop. Once we got the sparklers we filmed Emma but the effect didn't come out how we hoped it would. We wanted it to look like the attached image as it would of matched the lyrics "why are these lights so bright" and would of gone well with the theme of the video but the effect didn't work on film as it did as a still image and we unfortunately had to abandon that idea.
